A 6-month Apprenticeship on the Intersection of Folk Magic and Mediumship

About Folk Mediums

Folk Mediums offers an apprenticeship on the intersection of Folk Magic and Mediumship. A prerequisite for this program is graduation from Modern Mediums.

Classes will run from June - December 2025. There will be two 90-minute group classes per month and one monthly 45-minute private lesson/check-in for each student. You will have one break week per month to focus on your personal practice.

Classes will be on Wednesday evenings from 6:30PM – 8PM Mountain Time via Zoom. Private lessons will be scheduled by appointment. We will work together to find options. Group classes will be recorded and you will have replay access until June 2026. Private classes/check ins will not be recorded.

    Month #1: Fundamentals of Identifying Spiritual Maladies, Divining Remedies, and Spellcasting

    Month #1 will be dedicated to revisiting how to scan people for the presence of spirits and how this process can be expanded to identify different spiritual maladies. We will also establish a baseline of how to cast spells and divine on appropriate remedies in a low magic way.

    Month #2: Spiritual Diagnosis on the Physical Body

    Month #2 will be dedicated to scanning the physical body for ailments with a spiritual root and identifying and administering appropriate remedies. This is what folk healers of old were frequently sought out for. We will discuss the ethics of what to do with your findings and some classic healing practices for you to try.

    Month #3: Fractured Soul Parts

    Our spirit can be fractured by a number of factors. Calling home and integrating those parts of ourselves can help us to be healthier, happier people. Conversely, the fractured parts of others can attach themselves to us, causing all kinds of difficulties from mild to severe. Month #3 will be dedicated to assessing and addressing this common root of spirit attachment and spiritual maladies. We will learn and practice how to address both situations.

    Month #4: Regarding Curses – Evil Eye, Malevolent Workings, and the Self-Imposed Curse

    Curses are a common concern for those with spiritual ailments. However, their origin can run the gambit. In Month #4, we will learn how to scan for the presence of curses and their origins. We will also explore methods for breaking curses of all sorts.

    Month #5: Spiritual Attachments to People and Physical Locations

    When all diplomatic efforts have been exhausted and spirits refuse or are unable to disengage from a person, place, or thing, a heavier hand is called for. Month #5 will be dedicated to identification and removal of spirits with a negative influence from both individuals, objects, and physical locations.

    Month #6: Care for Community Spaces

    There are spaces that need spiritual care all around us. In Month #6 we will take all we have learned to cleanse, clear, and cast spells for the betterment of spaces in our communities.

    Month #1, Final Individual Check-ins: 11/17 – 11/21

    Month #1, Break Week: 11/24 – 11/28

     

    Graduation and Final Group Ritual

    Wednesday, 12/3 from 6:30PM – 8PM

  • I will need a minimum of five students to run the program and there will be a maximum of ten.

    The cost will be $210/month ($1,260 total). Payment plans will be available, with a contract. There are no scholarships or discounts for this one. If I run additional Folk Magic Fundamentals series while Folk Mediums is in sessions, you will be welcome to attend those for free, with the exception of any that have materials or venue rentals.

    Because this is an apprenticeship, that means there will be an expectation of providing service for others. You will be asked to practice on others, participate in collective workings, and use the work for the benefit of others and our communities.

    Once I have reviewed your application, I will reach out to set up a 1:1 conversation to ensure that the program is a fit for both of us.

    As with all my programs, submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Students will be accepted on a rolling, case-by-case basis.
